'talkSPORT.com brings you a round up of all the biggest news and gossip from the world of  MMA … Cerrone Returns Donald Cerrone will be back in September getty images Donald Cerrone is set to headline UFC Fight Night 158 in Vancouver against Justin Gaethje. ‘Cowboy’ was unsuccessful in his last contest against Tony Ferguson, but his desire to claim the lightweight belt since becoming a father has not diminished. The 36-year-old teased on Instagram he was set for a quick return against an ‘Ole Buddy’ and will take on Gaethje on September 14. According to Yahoo Sports, the action-packed spectacle will take place in Canada once Cerrone has recovered from the broken orbital bone he suffered at the hands of Ferguson. Bouts with Deigo Sanchez, Frankie Edgar and Mike Perry were all teased, but it seems fight fans could well be treated to one of the most exciting and violent fights in recent years. Tito’s outrageous claim Jones has beaten Cormier twice getty images Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz he would do much better than Daniel Cormier and would beat Jon Jones. The 44-year-old came out of retirement to face Chuck Lidell last year under the Golden Boy MMA banner and signed a deal with Combate Americas to fight Alberto Del Rio later this year. But Ortiz believes he would beat Jones, considered by many to be the GOAT, provided he had a full camp. “I think I would do a lot better against Jon Jones than Daniel Cormier, because Cormier is just a shorter guy (with) bigger legs, bigger torso,” Ortiz said recently on the Domenick Nati Show. “He’s just a big, big guy. “Jon Jones is long and lengthy. I’m going to get in the inside and try to overpower some of the positions. “But if it would be Jon Jones, I would think I’d have a great chance against (him).” And when asked if he could defeat ‘Bones’ today, Ortiz is confident that he would, provided he would be given enough time to prepare. “Yup, I think I could. If I have a camp like I did the last one of 18 weeks, 100 percent,” he said. “There really hasn’t been anybody to fight Jon Jones, to get in his face, and stay in his face. Everybody else, they want to strike on the outside with him. He’s too damn long, you cannot do that. You got to get in the inside of him. That’s the way to fight him. “As a coach and as a fighter, that’s the way to beat him,” he continued. “Someone should be aggressive enough to keep the fight, pushing him around. Make him feel uncomfortable.” Leon Edwards makes title claim ‘Rocky’ does not want anyone getting in the way of his title shot getty images Leon Edwards is praying the UFC does not grant Jorge Masvidal a welterweight title shot after his back-to-back spectacular KO wins. The Birmingham-native is looking to make it eight wins on the spin when he takes on veteran Rafael does Anjos in San Antonio this weekend. Despite his sensational tear through the 170-pound division, Edwards is fearful Masvidal will get a title shot before he does. “It’s madness, really. I don’t know where all of this title talk is coming from,” Edwards told  MMA Fighting . “Just two fights ago he was on a two-fight losing streak, he was probably going to get cut from the UFC. “I think the title talk is nonsense. It’s madness, but f**k it, it is what it is. “Bring him over to Texas and we can get it straight after the fight. We need to fight.” The 34-year-old infamously cut Edwards in a backstage brawl after UFC London, administering what he described as a ‘three piece and a soda’. Santos in recovery Santos suffered a series of debilitating injuries and still finished the fight getty images Thiago Santos has undergone successful surgery on both of his knees after his gruelling defeat to Jon Jones. The Brazilian brawler injured his leg during his five-round split-decision loss to Jones earlier this month during their light-heavyweight title fight. Santos suffered a torn ACL, MCL, PCL and meniscus in his left knee during the bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. View this post on Instagram Depois de 4 horas e meia de cirurgia terminou e deu tudo certo, agora vou focar na minha recuperação para voltar o quanto antes. Sempre grato à Deus e obrigado a todos vocês pela energia positiva e pelo carinho. Tmj . “ after 4 hours of surgery, the drs say everything is fixed! Now my focus is on a full recovery so I can get back in there better and stronger!” A post shared by Thiago \'Marreta\' Santos (@tmarretamma) on Jul 17, 2019 at 10:24pm PDT “After four hours of surgery, the doctors say everything is fixed,” Santos wrote on Instagram. “Now my focus is on a full recovery so I can get back in there better and stronger!” Santos, 35, won three straight fights after moving up to 205-pounds to earn his title shot against Jones. He has not provided a timetable for his return to competition.'

UFC news: Johnny Walker says Jon Jones is scared to lose to ‘an unknown guy’ after Bones shoots down fight

'Jon Jones managed to overcome Thiago Santos at UFC 239, but it was far closer than many fans expected it to be. While Bones is certainly in the conversation for the greatest of all-time, his checkered past frequently haunts him in that realm. Jon Jones beat Thiago Santos in their bout for the UFC light heavyweight Getty Images - Getty What cannot be disputed is that no man has been able to submit or knock Jones out yet, but Santos’ compatriot and rising light-heavyweight Johnny Walker believes he can. Many have said similar things in the past, but Walker has knocked out his last three opponents in under a combined three mintues. Looking back at the main event of UFC 239 , Walker thinks Jones has much more in his locker than he showed and if he doesn’t, Walker knows he can knock him out. “I think he can do much better than that,” Walker told MMAfighting . “He definitely has to do more against me, otherwise I’ll knock him out in the first round. Johnny Walker’s latest KO “I think ‘Marreta’ was a great challenge,” he continued, “But ‘Marreta’ got hurt in the first round. Jones is the champion and would obviously win if it went to the scorecards, so I think he took his foot off the gas and the fight went the way you saw.” Responding to a fan on twitter who suggested that Jones might fight Walker next, the UFC light-heavyweight champion referred to Walker as ‘unknown’. “You guys want me to fight someone who is unknown to the general public and hasn’t even fought a top 10 opponent yet? Think about it. Besides if I beat him in December, what would everyone have to look forward to?” Walker didn’t take that to heart. He agrees with Jones’ assessment, but, at the same time, warns his future foe not to underestimate him. “Well, he’s right,” Walker said. “I still haven’t done much (in the UFC). But there aren’t many guys who would give me a big challenge. I don’t have to beat a top 5. People talk too much crap, man. People say I don’t have jiu-jitsu, I don’t have wrestling. They say I have to fight a wrestler. The last wrestler I fought lasted five seconds. I’m ready for him and I know I’d be a big challenge. I think he’s afraid to lose to an unknown guy.” Johnny Walker is being tipped to challenge Jon Jones in the future It’s been suggested that the UFC are having a hard time finding guys who want to take on the 6’5″ ultra-fast Walker and the Brazilian is willing to step up to heavyweight if he has to. In fact, Francis Ngannou is a man he would target if given the chance, and not many people would do that. “I’d like to impress the fans by beating Francis Ngannou. He’s a machine,” Walker said. “He impressed so many people with his punching power, the way he finishes his fights. People is scared to fight him. I’m not scared to fight him. We have the same punching power. I did the test at the UFC Performance Institute. I was coming off a surgery and almost did the same number he did, so I have the same power or even more. I can definitely defeat him. \t \t\t \t\t \t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t LATEST MMA NEWS \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tround up\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tFaber calls out Cejudo after quick win, Masvidal 'not in same league' as Askren\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tdrained\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tUFC star forced to strip naked and visibly trembles after brutal weight cut\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tAlmighty\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tArnold Allen: I didn't think Georges St. Pierre liked me and much more\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tMAD MAX\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tMMA fighter accidentally slices training partner's arm open with an axe\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tround up\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tThe Rock praises Masvidal, McGregor teases retirement, Faber vs Cejudo next\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tBIG PAYDAY\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tJorge Masvidal calls out Conor McGregor and promises to 'break his face'\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tswimming in it\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tConor McGregor breaks into highest paid celebs in Forbes list for first time\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tround up\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tCormier named MMA fighter of the year, McGregor's wealth, Shamrock's new venture\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tROUND UP\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tMendes retires, Smith hits out at Rockhold, Ortiz to fight again and more\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tSURPRISE BOUT\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tUFC legend Tito Ortiz set to face ex-WWE star Alberto Del Rio\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t \t \t \t \t “I think I’ll have to fight two more times before fighting (Jones), so I’ll get things going in any division,” he continued. “If they need a fight at heavyweight, I’m in. With reigning welterweight champion Kamaru Usman sidelined after a double hernia operation, Masvidal, 34, is looking at other possible opponents. “I want McGregor,” Masvidal said on The Dan Le Batard Show . “I want to break his face. \t \t\t \t\t \t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t LATEST MMA NEWS \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tswimming in it\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tConor McGregor breaks into highest paid celebs in Forbes list for first time\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tround up\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tCormier named MMA fighter of the year, McGregor's wealth, Shamrock's new venture\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tROUND UP\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tMendes retires, Smith hits out at Rockhold, Ortiz to fight again and more\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tSURPRISE BOUT\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tUFC legend Tito Ortiz set to face ex-WWE star Alberto Del Rio\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tSTREET FIGHTER\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tFootage emerges of Masvidal winning brutal bare-knuckle backyard bout\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tround-up\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tThiago Santos' severe knee injuries and Ben Askren responds to backlash\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tPRACTICE MAKES PERFECT\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tMasvidal worked on flying knee 48 hours before brutal Askren KO\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tROUND-UP\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tCormier questions Francis Ngannou hype, Askren responds to defeat, plus more\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t \t \t \t \t “I think that’s an easy paycheck. He taps. I’ve never tapped in my whole entire career. He’s tapped a couple times, so that’s backing down in my book. “It’s something I’ve never done, and I feel like I’d break him. It would be an easy fight.” While Askren was relentless in his trash talking of Masvidal in the build-up to their fight, McGregor is instead famous for his quips and putdowns. He would be wasting his time, however, said the American veteran. “There’s no agitating me,” Masvidal stated. “It’s just you’re corny, you’re non-stop talking, whatever, you’re going to get a little bit extra punished.”'

Arnold Allen EXCLUSIVE: I didn’t think Georges St. Pierre liked me, not liking trash-talking in UFC and future plans

'The UK has a growing presence in the UFC and has made great strides over the past five to ten years, but today, they only have four athletes in the rankings. Darren Till, Leon Edwards, Joanne Calderwood and now, Arnold Allen. Of course, we’re not forgetting Ireland’s Conor McGregor, it’s just semantics. Arnold Allen delivers another blow to Gilbert Melendez at UFC 239 UFC Allen, 26, is now 16-1 following his last win and he sits on a winning streak of eight. That form has seen the UFC move the Suffolk-born star into 13th on their featherweight rankings. Following Allen’s victory over Gilbert Melendez at UFC 239 last Saturday, talkSPORT caught up with the rising featherweight star to talk about all things ‘Almighty’. Congratulations on your win last weekend. How did you go about that and how are you feeling now? Thank you! Yes, feeling great right now. I’m going to take a week off and then get back into training ready for the next one. I’d like to fight again this year, I think December would be a good one for me. I’ve got a few knocks that need to heal up – my hand being one of them – but then I’d definitely like to fight again this year. As far as the fight went, I’ve got a great team around me and they prepared me really well for it, like they always do. I put my trust in them and it’s really working out for me. You’re apart of Georges St. Pierre’s Tristar gym, how did that come to be? I always wanted to join one of the big gyms and I set about trying some and finding one that fit me. Tristar was the first gym that I tried and I never gave another a go! It’s not just about GSP being there, though. Obviously, he’s a legend, but it’s more about the fantastic team there. The facilities are great, the other fighters I train with are all world-class so it’s just the perfect mix really. Georges St-Pierre is an MMA legend What’s your relationship like with GSP? I like to go about my business like he did. I don’t need to trash-talk my opponents to make a name for myself, my performances seem to be getting my name out there and that’s how I prefer it. GSP never had to lower himself to anyone and I feel like I’m the same. When I joined the gym, I thought he didn’t like me at first! He didn’t seem impressed with what I was doing and didn’t say much so I thought ‘oh, I’ve pissed him off’ [laughs]. He was talkative to the rest of them! But after I had been there a few weeks he asked me if I was hanging around and said that I was family now, so obviously I was delighted to hear that. You operate at featherweight. Conor McGregor is a former featherweight champion and just one weight above now, is that a dream fight? I know there’s not a lot in it weight wise but he is one weight above me right now. He’s in it for big money fights and I don’t see him coming calling me for just yet [laughs]. I’d obviously love to one day. You won’t find many fighters who would say any differently. The fact that it would be a big domestic clash, as it were, certainly adds to it. But I’m focused on my own goals right now. Conor McGregor has fought Nate Diaz twice in the UFC You picked up a win over Jordan Rinaldi at UFC London in February, do you prefer fighting at home? The atmosphere back home is always great and they certainly give you that bit extra. I’m a local-ish boy and it’s nice to feel them wanting you to win. But, I was just on one of the UFC’s biggest cards in recent memory and I didn’t feel out of place or overawed at all. So that was a nice feeling, too. Describe yourself as a fighter I think I’m very well rounded. There’s not a particular area where I’m lacking. I train absolutely everything. I don’t really understand it when you hear ‘oh, this guy is a striker’ and that’s what they work on. I just think ‘OK, I’ll take you down then!’. I can adapt to whatever situation and during this eight-fight win streak I think I’ve proven that. I’d certainly like to score more finishes on people and get people talking with a KO or two and I’ll look to make that happen when the opportunity presents itself. Arnold Allen defeated Mads Burnell at UFC Fight Night Liverpool UFC What’s next on the agenda? I’m going to rest up and then train for an end-of-year fight. I’m ranked 13th now and I’m not looking behind me. I want to fight guys who are ranked above me and make my way to Max Holloway as quickly as possible. It’s that simple. I just need to keep doing what I’m doing but making the rankings is a big step in the right direction'

'JORGE MASVIDAL has vowed to “break” Conor McGregor’s face and believes a potential fight would be an “easy paycheck”. The American, 34, had MMA fans buzzing last weekend with his historic victory over Ben Askren at UFC 239. Jorge Masvidal has called out Conor McGregor and says he would love to ‘break his face’ Getty His flying knee and the punches that followed KOed his opponent to earn him the fastest win ever recorded inside the Octagon. Heading into the event, it was widely-believed the victor would be made No1 contender for a clash with welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. But if his emphatic triumph fails to secure him a title shot, Masvidal knows exactly who he would like to face next and he used his appearance on The Dan LeBatard Show to call out the Irishman. The man nicknamed “Gamebred” said: “I want McGregor . I want to break his face. I think that’s an easy paycheck. “He’s got these cash symbols written all over his face for me. I just don’t see it going his way if I’m honest with you.” He added: “It’s just a fight that, if we made it, it’s going to sell a lot. “I’m going to get the money that I deserve, and you can see: You put me there in a fight, and I’m going to fight. “I’m going to give you what the fans want. I’ve never pulled out of a fight.” No doubt Masvidal vs McGregor is a bout fans would love to see. But it remains to be seen whether “Notorious” can be enticed back into the Octagon, especially for a non-title fight. He has not fought since losing to  Khabib Nurmagomedov  in October last year. The 30-year-old is interested in chasing a high-profile rematch with unbeaten superstar Khabib, but the Russian has hinted at an early retirement. \t \t\t \t\t \t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t LATEST CONOR MCGREGOR NEWS \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tRICH KICKINGS\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tMcGregor breaks into Forbes' top 100 celebrity rich-list with £37.5m fortune\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t'CAN'T F*** WITH MONEY'\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tFloyd laughs off McGregor and dismisses team as 'circus clowns'\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tCON MAN\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tCerrone claims McGregor declined fight 'three or four times' and won't 'sign deal'\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tYOU NEVER KNOW\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tFans convinced McGregor to return TODAY as UFC tease mystery announcement\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tCAP IT ALL\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tWhat is the bottle cap challenge and how did the viral trend start?\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tNURMORE\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\tKhabib hints at shock retirement as UFC star reveals 'need' to fight Tony Ferguson\t\t\t \t\t\t \t \t \t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t\t \t\t\t\t \t\t\t \t\t \t \t \t \t He told Russia24: “Definitely, my career is not at the initial stage. “I am somewhere near the end.
